BACKGROUND 

 

I was assigned to create a book based on a naturally occurring phenomenon. I chose vibration because it is everything; it is sound, it is movement and it is vision. Each spread in the book is dedicated to a different expression or interpretation of vibration. These are a few spreads taken from my book.  

 

STRATEGY

 

Sound is vibration and there is no stronger human vibration than that of a young girl screaming. In order to depict the intensity of that vibration, I employed sound waves breaking a crystal glass.

 

The following images are patterns inspired by vibrations. The second image is my attempt at creating a pattern to makes the viewers vibrate themself. When staring at the pattern long enough the static page begins to move and eventually your eyes try to compensate by shifting back and forth. The third image is a pattern that illustrates the physical structure of rapid and chaotic sound waves intermingling.
